'A Small Place' by Jamaica Kincaid

This is a small book about a small place called 'Antigua'. Being from a former colony of a great European power as well, I can relate to many of the sentiments that Miss Kincaid feels. First they 'discover' us, then they bastardise our native tongue (or in her case, they eradicated it absolutely), then they leave us for dead. Post-colonial society, like children traumatised and abused in their most malleable stages, end up miserable and self-destructive.
