'Reflections in a Golden Eye' by Carson McCullers

I've never heard of a Filipino named 'Anacleto' before. Being of the same ethnicity, I find his depiction as effeminate, dependent and silly offensive. I can't help but think that his mistress may have been a portrait of the author herself.
